Why China is rising

As Napoleon said, China will roar when it wakes up.

The catalyst. US played the Chinese card against Russia by taking out the embargo in Nixon's era. They should build a statute of Nixon and Deng hugging and kissing each other with Nixon's filthy hand trying to get into Deng's back pocket.

FDI came naturally after the embargo. Then it was the hard working Chinese and then followed by Hong Kong with knowledge to deal with the west, the know-hows and a lot of investment. Then more investment came from Taiwan.

I have to give credit to Uncle Deng. It was not possible to build the infrastructure (electricity, roads, and sea ports...) in one or two years for the entire China. But it was entirely possible to start with a small coastal city in S. China, close to HK.

This simple concept has not been copied successfully by many countries including India
